I love Wednesdays.
All day at work I listened to Doug Graham lectures while I stickered things. I took an hour lunch and sat out in the sun and ate mangoes. I was very inspired, so when I got home I immediately rode my bike to the library. I haven't ridden my bike since December.
One thing I noticed...the hills were still very difficult, and despite not having ridden in 2 months - I did BETTER than I had then. The only thing I can attribute this to is diet. It's the only change.
I got home and then walked Leya, then hooped for 20 minutes, lifted weights for 5, THEN had dinner. I made a tomato soup with 3 tomatoes/sundried tomato/4 celery stalks, some dill, and some parsley. SO good...it was almost too much - it was pretty thick so I made little wraps with red leaf lettuce - bits of avocado with the soup/sauce. Seriously - divine. I recommend.
Not pretty, but very yummy!

So on my drive, as usual, I stop for some groceries. This is almost a daily thing since my food is fresh. It was a busy time and no parking spots, so I went through the alley. Some guys were digging through the dumpster - I never would have noticed this if I hadn't been reading the book "Free" for the last week or so. When I parked, I walked back to see what they were doing, and in fact they WERE dumpster diving. I asked if I could take a look.
DOES THIS LOOK LIKE GARBAGE TO YOU??

I was astonished, and this was just one teeny dumpster. I gotta check out Granville Island. Holy. This stuff was perfect, just needed a rinse. Dills, two types of parsley (3 bunches in all) and some Swiss chard. I was there for about 2 minutes. Inside this would have gone for $12-15. It's all organic, too. Wow.

I have been feeling really good. My mood is very up, and I am very confident. My skin is the only thing that is bothering me (bad zits - worst since before-raw), but I have definitely been detoxing - I am very on-track with where I want things to be going, health-wise and even OTHER things - I feel clear and optimistic. I know the tanning helped. I may go back for more, we'll see. I also have red tide - so that explains some of the skin eruptions and my bloated belly. After I ate at Organic Lives the other night, I could push it so far out I looked about 5-6 months pregnant. Oi.

Date: 2012-02-23 06:33 am (UTC)Hey, I look 5-6 months pregnant. Actually, through parts of today I could swear I looked more like 7-8 months pregnant. It's so funny when you're pregnant, because the hormone relaxin makes everything inside you stretch and loosen and that goes for your intestinal system, too, so everything is getting digested super slowly (and you are still constantly feeling starved, a paradox, really) and one tends to get tummy aches, flatulence and BLOATING!! often. The bloating is hilarious. I wake up in the morning and have a small belly, I barely look pregnant, and by the evening I look like I've swallowed a cantaloupe.

Date: 2012-02-26 01:13 am (UTC)Yeah I really bloat around my period, BUT...since giving up salt I have noticed less bloat this time, AND....my cramp were VERY tolerable. When I first went raw I got cramps for the first time in my life - it's the only thing that got WORSE after changing my diet. I think my salt consumption went up a lot though, so MAYBE that's why? It hardly bothered me at all this time! Very mild cramp yesterday, and today, nothing. I think I may have found the culprit!
